Privacy Policy

RunIt (“RunIt”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) operates an errand marketplace that connects customers with verified runners in Zambia. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the RunIt app or website (the “Service”), you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information. Your name, email address, phone number, password, role (customer or runner), and profile photo.
- Runner verification (KYC) data. For runners, we collect a selfie, National Registration Card (NRC) or other identity documents, vehicle details, emergency contact, and payout account details. These are used to verify identity and prevent fraud.
- Errand and transaction data. Errand details, categories, descriptions, item budgets, pickup and drop-off addresses, chat messages, uploaded receipts and proof-of-work photos, ratings, reviews, and disputes.
- Payment and wallet data. Payment transactions, wallet balances and ledger entries, mobile money references, and payout records. We do not store full mobile money PINs or sensitive authentication credentials.
- Location data. With your permission, approximate or precise location to show nearby errands, validate service areas, and display pickup and drop-off points.
- Device and usage data. Device identifiers, push notification tokens, app version, and basic analytics about how you use the Service.
2. How we use your information
- To create and manage your account and profile.
- To verify runner identity and maintain trust and safety.
- To match errands with eligible nearby runners.
- To process payments, hold funds securely until completion, release runner earnings, and handle refunds and payouts.
- To enable chat, notifications, ratings, and dispute resolution.
- To detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, and prohibited errands.
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms.
3. How we share information
We share information only as needed to operate the Service:
- Between customers and runners. When an errand is assigned, limited profile, contact, and location details are shared so the task can be completed.
- Service providers. We use trusted third parties for hosting and database services (Supabase), payment and mobile money processing, push notifications, and analytics. They may process data on our behalf under appropriate safeguards.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information when required by law, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of users and the public.
We do not sell your personal information.
4. Data retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. Transaction, ledger, and dispute records may be retained longer to meet financial, audit, and legal requirements. You may request deletion of your account, subject to records we are required to keep.
5. Security
We protect your data using access controls, row-level security, encrypted connections, and restricted access to sensitive documents such as KYC files. No system is completely secure, but we work to safeguard your information and limit access to those who need it.
6. Your rights and choices
- Access, update, or correct your profile information in the app.
- Control location and notification permissions on your device.
- Request a copy of your data or request account deletion.
7. Children
The Service is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version with a new “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
